    1. Let’s all ignore the fact that the very first centrefold (Sweetheart of The Month), in the very first edition of Playboy in December 1953 was *Marilyn Monroe.*

      And enjoy the post anyway…

This look captures a whole era in one shot. Truly iconic energy, the style and confidence in this era were on a completely different level. Hard not to be impressed.

Every time I see her I’m reminded that the 60s didn’t need Photoshop to break the internet. She was the blueprint.

    4. Poor Jayne. She died at 34 in an accident when the car she was riding in rear-ended a semi trailer that was braking in front of them, and the top half of their car was torn off, killing her and the three people in the front. Afterward those striped underride bars on them that you see were recommended by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a lot of people called them “Mansfield Bars”

    5. The documentary Mariska Hagarity made about her for HBO was really good. Didn’t always portray her in the most favorable light. She was flawed, knew she wanted the stardom, and chased it pretty relentlessly
